101 Dalmatas is a pirate SNES hack of Beethoven: The Ultimate Canine Caper, aka Beethoven's 2nd, made by Twin Eagles Group. This hack was originally released commercially as a cartridge game in February 1998.

Changes[]

Beethoven's sprites have been replaced by what appears to be Pongo, and the Saint Bernard puppies have been edited to somewhat look like little Dalmatians.

Emulation and preservation[]

At least three different ROMs of this game are known to exist. The common ROM, which is 1 MB, has various graphical glitches that are not present in known original copies of the game (i.e., glitched backgrounds in the first stage). Another ROM of the game, which is larger than the common ROM by one byte and is of unknown origin, has the same issues. The third known ROM of the game is known to have originated directly from "Mr. Byte", a member of Twin Eagles Group, as part of a compilation of games and hacks produced by the group, and does not work on modern SNES emulators (i.e., bsnes). It is unknown if this specific ROM is bad. A proper dump of the commercially released version of this hack is currently not known to exist.

Trivia[]

  • The title screen features the logo from the Brazilian version of the film.
