Title Screen
168-in-1 Pets (Commonly dubbed by the virtual pet community as "Bunnyrom") is a term which refers to a series of Tamagotchi clones developed by an unknown company. The series of systems are notable for being very similar to Brick Game-type systems, except with a Tamagotchi clone. Like Brick Games, these systems come in almost every shape and size imaginable. It is believed that these systems appeared around the mid-2000s, as many of these systems refer to themselves as being apart of the Tamagotchi Connections series of systems, and even directly use assets from said device.
Overview[]
On first boot, the device starts with a splash screen with the string "168 in 1", indicating that it has 168 selectable pets. Most of these pets are either animals and insects, preexisitng Tamagotchi pets, or copyrighted characters. All of these pets are identical to each other, the only difference being the idle sprite. The player can change the pet by pressing the Select button, and choose with the Decide button. After choosing which pet they want, the player can select either Ann, Joy, Eve, Jim, May, Sue, Tom, or Bob. The player then has to set the time with a 24-hour clock (though it has no function in-game). After this, the player's pet hatches (represented by an explosion) and has to be fed.
Gameplay[]
The player has to raise their pet, feed them, etc. Unlike Tamagotchi, your pet doesn't seem to be able to die.
- Status Icon: Shows the pet's age, growth, and current hunger.
- Chef: Allows the player to either feed their pet a slice of cake or sushi.
- Toilet: Clears the poop of the player's pet.
- Baseball Bat: Allows the player to play one of two minigames. In the first game, the player must control a dog and collect a frisbee. In the second game, the player controls a spaceship and must avoid projectiles.
- Shop: Doing well in the minigames earns the player coins. The player can use these to buy one of 3 "Transform" items. These allow the player to select another pet from the menu. The bear clip allows you to pick the first few, the ribbon allows the player to pick the next few, and the heart allows the player to pick the last few pets.
- "Connect": Allows the player to select one of three further options. A "work" mechanic described as a school on some units, which gives the player money, A "play" option, which shows an animation of two pets on a seesaw, and a yin-yang which activates the transform function.
- Discipline: Shows an animation of the player's pet being lectured. The tool is supposed to be used when the pet is misbehaving.
- Medical Bag: Heals the pet when it gets sick.
- Mail: Shows two further options: A star icon which shows a hint for the key system, and an envelope which gives the player gold or poop.
- Book: Has two further options: A key icon which allows the player to enter a code to get more food, gold, or fill the growth meter.
- Call: Blinks when the pet requires the player's attention.
