The 5-in-1 Fami Collection (also with the subtitle NES-Collection NR 1) is a unlicensed multiHuCARD released for NEC's PC Engine. As the name implies, it contains five games, all NES ports. A bigger version, with another different 5 games (plus one already included from 5-in-1 Fami Collection) called 6-in-1 Fami Collection (also with the subtitle NES-Collection NR 2) was released in the same year.
Overview[edit | edit source]
The HuCARD has the following games:
- Donkey Kong 3
- Ice Climber
- Kung Fu (known as Spartan-X in Japan)
- Super Mario Bros.
- Pro Wrestling (Tag Team Pro Wrestling)
The 6-in-1 version has the following games:
- Arkanoid
- Battle City
- Mario Bros.
- Lode Runner
- Lode Runner Champ. (Championship Lode Runner)
- Super Mario Bros.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Super Mario Bros. is the only game that is forced to run in a NTSC console, rendering in fast gameplay and high pitched music. (It was based on the second PAL version that overcompensated the music speed).
- The games in 6-in-1 retains the companies' copyright in their games.
- Due to both consoles using a 6502 compatible CPU much of the code was left intact, with the obvious exception of graphics and sound routines.
