Anbernic, formally Shenzhen Yangliming Electronic Technology Co., Ltd (深圳市扬立铭电子科技有限公司), is a manufacturer of emulator and clone consoles based in Shenzhen, China and founded in 2005.[1] They changed their name in 2017.[2] The company was started by Maxzhou, a former Super Game employee.
History[]
Anbernic was originally founded as Yangliming Electronic, though what they did under this name is unknown. Much like other companies, Anbernic originally made portable handheld famiclones, like the Retro FC which share many similarities with systems such as the CoolBaby RS-99. Early on, Anbernic started experimenting with systems that use emulation instead of a normal chip like the Revo K101 Plus and HD Game. These systems seem to use Linux based hardware. Though most of these early systems have various emulation and sound problems due to them being unoptimized, they eventually made firmware updates that fixed the issues. They eventually became a household name in the retro handheld industry with their RG Series of handhelds which use hardware based off Android, Linux, Windows software.
