Baby Pac-Man is a maze game/pinball hybrid developed by Dave Nutting Assosicates and published by Midway Games in 1982. It is the fourth Pac-Man game to not be developed by Namco, following Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Man Plus, and Jr. Pac-Man. It combines a Pac-Man video game screen with an entire pinball table, complete with trap targets, chutes and score multipliers.

Overview[edit | edit source]

The game plays much like as the original Pac-Man, with the exceptions that there are no Power-Pellets on the maze. In order to make them appear, the player needs to go into a two vertical tunnels at the bottom of screen, and play some pinball. On the pinball side of the game, the player must hit specific locations in order to make the Power-Pellets appear in video mode, as well some other features, such as speed-up and bonus point by eating fruits. If the ball falls out of the playfield, it return to the maze mode, but with the vertical tunnels closed. The tunnels won't open until the player clear the pellets on maze or lose a life.

  • A character named Pac-Baby appears in Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures, but it does not have connection with the Baby Pac-Man from this game.
  • This game is one of few hybrid Arcade/Pinball games that ever was made. Granny and the Gators (also by Midway Games) is another example of an hybrid electronic arcade machine with a mechanical pinball machine.
