Chess is an unlicensed game for the Sega Megadrive that was most likely released in 1998. Very little information is known about it, although its ROM is available on the internet, and it is one of the included games on the 80-in-1 model of AtGames' Sega Mega Drive Arcade Ultimate portable system. It is unknown whether it has any relation to the unreleased Sega Channel game Chessmaster.
Gameplay
The gameplay is just the same as any Chess video game. The chess board can be customised.
Music
The music was composed by Victor Chernov and is in the style of Russian folk music. The two looping tracks are not looped properly. For those who find the music annoying and repetitive, the music can fortunately be turned off along with the irritating PSG sound effects.
The game's audio uses an unknown custom sound driver. In 2015, ValleyBell built a converter which converts the ROM to VGM files.
