Coco Loco is a maze game developed by Petaco S. A. and released for arcades in 1981. The game is a faithful clone of Pac-Man, right down to the character designs and an almost identical maze/attract mode. The game was released in Spain and allegedly in North America as well (including the United States[1]).
Overview[]
The game plays very similarly to Pac-Man. You control Come Cocos (Ghost Eater) as you eat all the pellets on screen while avoiding the ghosts. You can also collect fruit and vitamins that allow you to eat the ghosts for more points. Unlike the original Pac-Man, there's also a button which speeds up Come Cocos. Each "Fase" in this game has a timer and gives you a certain amount of bonus points depending on how long it took you to complete it. After each round, an intermission plays that shows you the score values of each item and ghosts. After every level, a new ghost is added.
Revisional Differences[]
There are multiple versions of this game in MAME which have somewhat major differences from each other just for being different revisions.
Set 1[]
The original version of the game. Up to 4 players can play (though by taking turns). The game is in Spanish.
Set 2[]
A later version of the game which is in English and seemingly has an attempt on music during gameplay.
Set 3[]
Only up to 2 players are selectable which seems to be because of a "2 Player Mode" being added. Though you control both Come Cocos with the same joystick and the second player can't speed up. This is potentially an issue within MAME itself.

Trivia[]
- The game's name comes from the fact that in some Spanish-speaking territories, Pac-Man is sometimes referred to as Come Cocos.
