Inventor was a Chinese developer of various original games and hacks, believed to be responsible for the majority of hacks found on Famiclones dating from 2000 onwards, such as the Arcade Action II. Its original games often use the Sunsoft sound engine.

Although Inventor itself is believed to no longer exist, many of its games and hacks appear to have passed to other companies, including Waixing, Cube Technology and Nice Code.

Other names used by Inventor or related companies include Shanghai Paradise & BBG.

Original games

These games, if dumped, can usually be identified by a Shanghai Paradise logo found in the game tiles, although it is rarely displayed.

F22 aka Navigator - The original version has 16 levels, but the version featured on Subor famiclones & copyrighted to Waixing has only 3
Jurassic Park - So far only seen on Subor famiclones, with only 2 levels. The original version may have more.

Street Dance - A Dance Dance Revolution clone, the original version is ©2000 INVENT and uses standard NES music (with the Sunsoft sound engine), while an update made in 2008 apparently by Nice Code updates the copyright to ©2008 INVENT and adds PCM sampled music. A version of it, which came embedded on certain Plug-and-Play dance pads was included with Hit Mouse.^[1]

Advanced hacks

Super Hang-On 97, Skiing - fairly comprehensive hacks of Highway Star, aka Rad Racer.
Alienis - Either a clone or an advanced hack of Battle City which introduces scrolling.
Power Boat - Appears to be an advanced hack of Road Fighter.
Fish War - A hack of Balloon Fight with completely different graphics and music.

Standard hacks

These hacks usually change most/all of the graphics, and may modify (but not replace) the music, but nothing else. Inventor is only explictly credited in a small number of these so the extent of its involvement is unknown. Many of them have alternate versions by Advance Bright Ltd. on their Famiclones.

Super Fighter - Hack of Super Contra. Several variations of this one exist; some without titles on the title screen and others with a "Select bullet" menu.
X-Plan - Hack of Super Contra 6, which is in turn a hack of Contra Force.
X-War - Hack of Silkworm. An alternate version exists on a OneStation multicart which uses the original name.
Space War - Hack of Gun-Nac; notably with the original game name on the options screen.
Racing Car - Hack of Race America, with the credits completely unaltered.
Street War - Hack of Mighty Final Fight.
Caesar Captain - Hack of James Bond Jr.
Super Fighters - Hack of Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu.
Happy Angel Legend - Hack of Tiny Toon Adventures.
Dream Rapid - Hack of F-1 Hero.
Ultimate Speed - Hack of Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge.
Bionic Tank - Hack of RoadBlasters.
Hellfire - Hack of Batman.
Bruce & Leo - Hack of Tom & Jerry.
Golgotha/TNT - Hacks of Bomberman.
Hoodle/Bounce Ball - Hacks of Pinball; both change the table designs somewhat.
Billard 2008 - Hack of Lunar Ball.
Benthal World - Hack of Pyramid by Sachen.
Rescue Kuck - Hack of Donkey Kong Jr.
Bandits - Hack of Donkey Kong 3.
