Undumped alternate versions of dumped games

Name Company Year Links Notes
Asder PC-95 NTDEC 1995 [30]

[31]

[32]

[33]

Arabic, Polish, Korean and Thai versions are dumped. Translations in English, Portuguese and Italian are known to exist and are undumped. The Italian version, bundled with the Genius Star famiclone, is rebranded as Watary PC-99.

Atari and Intellivision Famiclone ports Nice Code Software, Basic Fun (Atari Keychain), unknown company (Intellivision X2) 2000s Seen on various licensed plug 'n play systems. Extensively hacked versions of some games are dumped, as well as prototypes, but the originals are not.
Bao Xiao San Guo (Jacks in Tri-Empire) Waixing 1996 [34]

[35]

Traditional Chinese version with older Waixing logo undumped.

Bollywood 2003 Unknown 2003 [36]

Unofficial hack of Cony's Street Fighter II Pro featuring Bollywood movie stars.

Colosoftware Famiclone ports Unknown [37] Found on licensed plug 'n plays. Three of the five games are dumped with removed copyright information.
Desert Storm Waixing 1996

The available dump combes from a digital download and has likely been modified, as most others from that source have been.

Earthworm III (地球虫III) Waixing Before 1999? [38] [39] [40] Alternate title screen version of Happy Biqi III World Fighter.
F-15 City War Idea-Tek 1989 Idea-Tek, AVE and Gluk Video versions are dumped (Mappers 173/79/36), but the TXC re-release (MGC-006) is not (should use Mapper 132, judging by other TXC re-releases). There is also an Australian HES release, although it is most likely identical to one of the AVE ROM versions.
F-22 Inventor 1997 Several hacked versions have been dumped, but the original release from Shanghai Paradise is undumped. It is expected to have text in the (awfully-animated) introduction cutscene.
Impartial Judge a.k.a. 包青天' (Bao Qingtian, not to be confused with the Kasheng game of the same name) Waixing 1996

The available dump comes from a digital download and has been modified to remove the initial Waixing logo, which is still buried in the CHR-ROM data.

JP Ronny NTDEC 1993 Single cart release of JP Ronny, credits NTDEC instead of ASDER.
Magic Cube Kuk Je Academy, Sachen 1991 Features an alternate opening screen and possibly more? May not exist.
靈界護法 (Língjiè Hùfǎ, ES-1099) Waixing 1996 [41] The existing dump is a downloadable version from Waixing, yet crashes when entering the third level. One user has confirmed that one of several cartridge versions of the game suffers from the same problem. Therefore, a different version of the game, one that does not crash on the third level, needs to be dumped. Given that the existing Mapper 4 version retains a write of $02 to $5000, that version will likely be for Mapper 249.
MiG 29: Soviet Fighter (Codemasters PAL release) Codemasters 199? US version has been dumped. European release has been confirmed to exist but is one of two European Codemasters releases without a known ROM, the other being The Ultimate Stuntman.
Maxi 15 Pre-Sachen release (Australia) AVE

HES

1991 [42] The only known version of this is based on the US revision with Sachen games replaced. However, another version with them present is thought to exist, but is unconfirmed.
Monkey King Inventor 1997? Waixing's hacked version has been dumped (or rather, decrypted from their downloadable NES versions), but the original release from Shanghai Paradise is undumped.
Olympic IQ Kuk Je Academy,

Sachen

1991 Was apparently translated to Korean? Likely features different copyrights.
Puzzle Idea-Tek 1989-1990 Idea-Tek and AVE versions are dumped (Mappers 173 and 79), but the TXC re-release (MGC-007) is not (should use Mapper 132, judging by other TXC re-releases).
Street Hero Daou Infosys 1992 [43] Unreleased english translation of The General's Son.
Tagin' Dragon Sachen 1990 [44] The dumped versions are the Sachen release titled Colorful Dragon and the Bunch Games release titled Tagin' Dragon, but as this this video shows, there must be a Sachen version titled Tagin' Dragon as well that is not dumped. It will likely be on a 72-pin cartridge.
Titenic (ABAB 3-in-1 version) Hummer Technology 2003-2004 Could be a slightly different version than the known one on the 15-in 1 cartridge. With a title screen and a player select.

  • aka Pokémon Diamond I
Shenzhen Nantong Technology Electronics 2008? [46] Original release of the first entry of the Pokémon Diamond trilogy by Hengge?
The Centenary of Mao Zedong's Birthday (毛澤東誕辰一百週年紀念) Unknown 1993? [47]

[48]

The Ultimate Stuntman (Codemasters PAL release) Codemasters 199? US version has been dumped. European release has been confirmed to exist but is one of two European Codemasters releases without a known ROM, the other being MiG 29: Soviet Fighter. Cartridge code is apparently "CDM-US".

Redump needed

Some games have already been dumped, but the current ROM images have been identified either as being hacked or as being corrupt in some way, necessitating them being dumped again.

Name Company Year Links Notes
爆笑三國 (Bàoxiào Sānguó, ES-1005; rectangular upright box only) Waixing 1997 [49] All available dumps that display a copyright registration number of 970261 and a static logo have all been hacked for Mapper 15. The game originally ran on Mapper 227 (Waixing FW01 PCB). Note that the earlier version with the animated logo is completely undumped, see above.
大話西游 (Dàhuà Xīyóu a.k.a. Westward Journey, G-004) Union Bond/Mars Productions 2001 The available dump has been hacked for Mapper 15. The game originally ran on Mapper 164, can no longer save, and freezes when displaying the notebook. A restoration hack has been posted to BGC that attempts to restore the original Mapper 164 code, but that does not remove the necessity for a proper redump.
風雲 - Traitor Legend (Fēngyún, ES-1046; rectangular upright box only) Waixing 1997 The available dumps all come from mid-2000s re-releases that were modified to use the Waixing FS005 PCB (Mapper 176).
靈界護法 - Shock (Língjiè Hùfǎ , ES-1099; rectangular upright box only) Waixing 1996 All available dumps crash after finishing level 2/on entering level 3. It has been reported that this is bug was introduced by Waixing themselves in the course of some re-release, so the earlier the cartridge that is used for redumping is, the better.
My Arcade Gamer V (DGUN-2573) dreamGEAR 2011? The available dump has corrupt thumbnail images in the menu.
梦幻之星 IV (Mènghuàn zhī Xīng IV a.k.a. Phantasy Star IV, ES-1006; rectangular upright box only) Waixing 1996 The available dump is from a mid-2000s re-release using the Waixing FS005 PCB (Mapper 176). The game ran originally on Mapper 227 (Waixing FW01 PCB).
三國志: 雄霸天下 (Sānguózhì: Xióngbà tiānxià, ES-1057; rectangular upright box only) Waixing 1998 The available dumps all come from mid-2000s re-releases that were modified to use the Waixing FS005 PCB (Mapper 176).
上海大亨 (Shanghai Tycoon, ES-1043; rectangular upright box only) Waixing 1996 [50] The available dumps have been hacked for Mapper 15, or come from a mid-2000s re-release using the Waixing FS005 PCB (Mapper 176). The game originally ran on Mapper 227 (Waixing FW01 PCB).
神密金三角 (Shénmì Jīnsānjiǎo, ES-1018; square box only) Waixing Mid-2005s The available dumps have been hacked for Mapper 4 and can no longer save. This version of the game originally ran on Mapper 176 (Waixing FS005 PCB). A restoration hack exists that attempts to restore the original Mapper 176 code, but that does not remove the necessity for a proper redump. Note that the original 1996 release, entitled 東方的傳說 Dōngfāng de Chuánshuō, does not need to be redumped.
外星戰士2 (Wàixīng Zhànshì 2, rectangular upright box only) Waixing 1996 [51] The available dumps have been hacked for Mapper 15. The game originally ran on Mapper 227 (Waixing FW01 PCB).
岳飛傳 (Yuèfēi Zhuàn, G-006) Union Bond/Mars Productions 2001 The available dump has been hacked for Mapper 15. The game originally ran on Mapper 164, can no longer save, and freezes when displaying the notebook. A restoration hack exists that attempts to restore the original Mapper 164 code, but that does not remove the necessity for a proper redump.
西楚霸王 (Xī Chǔ Bàwáng, ES-1066; rectangular upright box only) Waixing 1998 The available dumps all come from mid-2000s re-releases that were modified to use the Waixing FS005 PCB (Mapper 176).
櫻桃小丸子 (Yīngtáo Xiǎo Wánzi a.k.a. Chibi Markuko-chan, G-005) Union Bond/Mars Productions 2001 The available dump uses the correct Mapper 164, but has an exorbitant amount of NOP instructions in its bankswitching code, suggesting some kind of hack.
