Lite Star Electronics Technology Co., Ltd (东莞市星辰互动电子科技有限公司)[1] is a company currently based in Dongguan, China that was founded in 1996.[2] They currently manufacture controllers and other gaming accessories.

Around the early 2000s, Lite Star released a line of plug & play consoles, some of which appear to be precursors to those made by JungleTac in terms of design and software. Notably, they received a license to make an official Mega Drive plug & play.

Company history[]

Lite Star's official website states it was founded in 1996.[2] This appears to be the date when a Hong Kong company founded in 1992, formerly known as "Lee Star (H.K.) Limited", renamed to "Lite Star (H.K.) Limited".[3] This company may be associated with Lee Star Co. Ltd (Shenzhen) and Lee Star Co. Ltd (Taiwan), the latter company managed by the same person as Deka Electronics,[4] the original producer of NASA Famiclones.[5]

Various Hong Kong and mainland China-based companies have subsequently been associated with Lite Star, including High Technology Pacific Limited[6] and Lite Star Interactive Company Limited.[7] The first Lite Star company in mainland China was founded on March 8, 1996 in Shenzhen, China under the Chinese name 深圳星辰电子电器有限公司, which was founded by Lu Zong-Rong (吕宗荣).[8] This company would be closed in the year 2000 and succeeded by another company the following year in the same area with a similar name, Shenzhen Lite Star Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. (深圳星辰电子科技有限公司).[9] Lite Star is now currently based in Dongguan.
