Magic 7 Block (百変七巧板) is an unlicensed Sega Mega Drive game developed by Gamtec. Copies of the game were likely released in Taiwan and are extremely rare and undocumented. Additionally, as of writing, the game is completely undumped. The only known documentation of the game exists in the form of a short gameplay video on YouTube by a Japanese-speaking user.

Overview[]

Magic 7 Block is a puzzle game that has the player solve a series of tangram puzzles. The title screen offers two modes of play - a regular mode that structures the game into five stages, each one presumably offering several tangram puzzles that each have to be completed under a time limit, and a "FREE STYLE" mode, the functionality of which is currently unknown. The attract animation that plays after waiting on the title screen for a period of time shows what appears to be three tans (tangram pieces) flying through a field of asteroids.

When a tangram puzzle is completed in the regular game mode, the player has the chance to play a bonus mini-game of whack-a-mole, where the player has to hit as many gophers that come out of the holes as possible before the game ends and counts the gophers hit into the player's total score. The criteria to activate this mini-game is currently unknown.
