Mario 16 is a hack of Joe & Mac and was released on the Famicom.
Overview
Like most hacks, the title screen was altered, and Mario starts with 10 lives (unlike 3 in the original). Some of Joe's sprites were also replaced with Mario's. The game was released in 1993 and rereleased in 1996.[citation needed] Like with most Mario bootlegs, the graphics were taken from Super Mario Bros. 3.
