The NEO Double Games is an electronic handheld game, designed to resemble the Nintendo DS. The console was released in the mid-2000s by Shenzhen City Zhengchang Electronics Factory, and is the successor (?) to the POP Station.

Overview[]

The NEO Double Games appears to run on identical hardware to the POP Station; using game software licensed/cloned (?) from Synco Tech Company Limited. Similarly to other handhelds of this type, the NEO Double Games uses interchangeable screens as "cartridges", which feature different game logic and graphics. The console comes bundled with two screen-cartridges; the top screen holder plays the game, while the bottom screen holder merely acts as storage for the second game. The console features two controller ports on the back, allowing for one or two players; though a majority of released models do not come bundled with additional controllers.

Some releases of the NEO Double Games feature faux-color using a method similar to Nintendo's Game & Watch Super Color series, where the LCD panel is covered by strips of colored plastic. Other (possibly earlier) releases leave the game screens in pure black-and-white.

Games[]

Variants of the NEO Double games with a color-affixed screen feature the following selection of titles:

  • Street Fighter (City Fighter) - A Street Fighter clone. Due to the limited graphics, the fighters appear to be throwing their own arms and legs at each other.
  • Soccer - A generic soccer game with players moving vertically.
  • Submarine Invasion (Scuffle) - A clone of Casio's CG-330 Submarine Battle from 1985. Shooting game involving a submarine gunning down planes.
  • Fortress Guardian (Sky Shooter) - A clone of Casio's CG-370 Heli-Battle from 1987. A shooting game where the player must keep their bases safe.
  • Racing Car - A generic racing game; it is a graphic variant of Synco Tech's Motor Cycle. This game appears to have replaced Fortress Guardian as a game option in later revisions.

The black-and-white version features roughly the same game line-up, but with some games having altered names and graphics:[1]

  • Warrior VS Demon - graphic variant of Street Fighter/City Fighter
  • Soccer (unaltered)
  • Tank Battle - graphic variant of Submarine Invasion/Scuffle
  • Dino-World - graphic variant of Fortress Guardian/Sky Shooter
