While not currently listed on this page, several early Nice Code titles, namely Pet Dog and Racing Guy, also feature Olympic-based events specially coded for their respective games.

Olympic[]

Olympic is a collection of 14 olympic-themed minigames. It is heavily modeled after Konami's Track & Field and Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92, using events originating from both games.

In terms of gameplay, Olympic is closer to Track & Field than Gold Medal Challenge; for any events that appeared in both original games, the Track & Field version is used as basis. Some games feature noticeably worse or unrealistic physics compared to the original games (e.g. the backwards-jumping speed in High Jump). Virtually all character graphics are ripped directly from Gold Medal Challenge; the HUD and backgrounds are modeled after Track & Field, but are mostly redrawn in comparison.

The game features two modes: Olympic Game, in which all events are played in a set order, and Training, which allows the player to select any singular event to play. The game's events include the eight original events from Track & Field (or Hyper Olympic/Hyper Sports), along with six events from Gold Medal Challenge. Several Gold Medal Challenge events, such as Weightlifting and Vaulting Horse, were not ported over to Olympic. The in-game audio also mimics Track & Field, though does not appear to be directly ripped from the original; the swimming events have no sound whatsoever. The events featured include:

  • High Jump - Clone of the Track & Field/Hyper Sports event
  • Jump Long - Clone of Long Jump from Track & Field/Hyper Olympic
  • Triple Jump - Clone of the Track & Field/Hyper Sports event
  • Shot Put - Clone of the Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 event
  • Discus Put - Clone of the Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 event
  • Javelin Throw - Clone of the Track & Field/Hyper Olympic event
  • Shooting - Clone of Skeet Shooting from Track & Field/Hyper Sports
  • Target Practice - Clone of Archery from Track & Field/Hyper Sports
  • 100 Meter Dash - Clone of the Track & Field/Hyper Olympic event
  • 110 Meter Hurdles - Clone of the Track & Field/Hyper Olympic event
  • 100 Meter Freestyle - Clone of the Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 event
  • 100 Meter Backstroke - Clone of the Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 event
  • 100 Meter Butterfly - Clone of the Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 event
  • 100 Meter Breast - Clone of the Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 event

The original version of this game is rather uncommon, especially in comparison to the split-game versions listed below. The game is only known to appear on a few Touch Game Player (?) systems, often with an incorrect preview image showing the original Track & Field. It is possible that the game's scarcity is due to the word "Olympic" being a heavily protected trademark (similar to the Super Bowl).

Split-game versions[]

The large majority of multi-game releases split each event in Olympic into separate, individual games. These versions are simple mapper 0 conversions, stripped of everything pertaining to the original Olympic release or other events. Both VT02 and VT03 versions of each event were produced this way, many of which have further variants.

Due to the ubiquity of these titles, the below lists are sorted by "sets" of split-game versions rather than the individual games themselves. There are eight known sets of variants, each of which have varying differences from each other; alongside a few miscellaneous versions that are not attached to a set.

Advance Bright Limited set[]

This set is known to appear on Advance Bright Limited consoles, such as the "Vs. Maxx Maxxplay" (95-in-1). When a game is paused, it opens a menu with "Continue" or "Exit" buttons, the latter going back to the multicart's main menu. Curiously, each game opens with a loading screen; this may suggest the ROMs themselves are not individually ripped, and that the multicart menu is reading multiple games built into one file.

The Advance Bright Limited versions that do not seem to be altered visually from the original Olympic. The only minor difference is that the people in the crowd do not appear to have eye whites. This set does not include swimming events. The following events are featured in this set:

  • High Jump
  • Long Jump - Title corrected from the original Olympic's "Jump Long"; this change also applies to some subsequent versions.
  • Triple Jump
  • Shot Put
  • Discus Put
  • Javelin Throw
  • Shooting
  • Target Practice
  • 100 Meter Dash
  • 110 Meter Hurdles

"Common" 8-bit set[]

Likely the most common set used for 8-bit releases. The graphics are virtually identical to the original Olympic, but some player sprites are slightly modified (e.g. giving the player solid black clothes in jumping events). For unknown reasons, additional versions of each swimming event were produced with male swimmers (whereas the original game uses women). The following events are featured in this set:

  • High Jump
  • Long Jump
  • Triple Jump
  • Shot Put
  • Discus Put
  • Javelin Throw
  • Shooting
  • Target Practice
  • 100 Meter Dash
  • 110 Meter Hurdles
  • 100 Meter Freestyle - Has male and female variants.
  • 100 Meter Backstroke - Has male and female variants.
  • 100 Meter Butterfly - Has male and female variants.
  • 100 Meter Breast - Has male and female variants.

"Athens 2004" set[]

This set replaces the main scoreboard with text reading "Athens 2004", referencing the 2004 Summer Olympics. The scoreboard itself is redesigned and recolored green; the graphics are otherwise identical to the "common" set. This set is only known to include one of the four swimming events (using the female sprites). This set was likely produced for Power Joy Ltd, as it is mainly known to appear on earlier Power Joy and dreamGEAR consoles. The following events are featured in this set:

  • High Jump
  • Jump Long
  • Triple Jump
  • Shot Put
  • Discus Put
  • Javelin Throw
  • Shooting
  • Target Practice
  • 100 Meter Dash - All audio is removed.
  • 110 Meter Hurdles - Most audio is removed; uses a simple jump sound effect.
  • 100 Meter Freestyle

"Primitive Man" set[]

Based on the "common" 8-bit set, but the players are replaced with Primitive Man, a character from a Tom & Jerry 3 hack by Nice Code. This set is only known to feature the following events:

  • High Jump
  • Jump Long
  • Triple Jump
  • Shot Put
  • Discus Put
  • 100 Meter Dash
  • 110 Meter Hurdles

"Primitive Man" set (VT03)[]

A set of VT03 conversions based on the Primitive Man set. Some of these variants extensively change the background sprites, while others do not. The VT03 versions may be affiliated with Qi Sheng Long. This set is only known to feature three events, which include the following:

  • Shot Put - Still features basic humans in the audience.
  • Discus Put - Changes the audience to cavemen; the scoreboard is made out of logs.
  • 100 Meter Dash - Changes the track to be surrounded by boulders; the scoreboard is made out of logs.

"Play Vision"/"Fun Station" set[]

A set of variants that originate from the "Play Vision"/"Fun Station" game set; these versions use completely different graphics than all other versions. The following events are featured in this set:

  • High Jump
  • Long Jump
  • Shot Put
  • Javelin Throw
  • Shoot (Shooting)
  • 110 Meter Hurdles

Waixing versions[]

A set of versions released by Waixing. Confusingly, this set is a random selection of other manufacturer's versions, modified to have different graphics and sounds. Two versions do not appear to have involvement with Nice Code, but are attached to Waixing's "set" regardless. The following events are featured in this set:

  • Discus Put - Based on the "Caveman" version, but adds a custom music track.
  • Shooting - Based on the "common" 8-bit version, but changes the player's sprite to a man with an "M" on his back.
  • Archery - Waixing's version of Archery/Target Practice is separately coded from Nice Code's version, and was developed by the unknown JungleTac affiliate. This variant was likely not licensed through Nice Code.
  • 110 Meter Hurdles - Waixing's version of this event is a basic graphic hack of Track & Field, with the title screen and all further events removed. This variant was likely not licensed through Nice Code.
  • 100 Meter Freestyle - Based on the "Athens 2004" version (with the text still intact), but adds a custom music track.
  • 100 Meter Backstroke - Based on the "common" 8-bit version, using female player sprites, but adds a custom music track.

Waixing versions (VT03)[]

Each event in Waixing's set, with the exception of 110 Meter Hurdles, also has a VT03 conversion. These include the following:

  • Discus Put - Graphics are given additional colors/shading. Oddly, the audience members have dark blue skin and neon yellow hair.
  • Shooting - Graphics are given additional colors/shading.
  • Archery - Graphics are given additional colors/shading. Uses similar sprites to the 8-bit Waixing version, but with a fully-redrawn title screen and background assets.
  • 100 Meter Freestyle - Graphics are given additional colors/shading.
  • 100 Meter Backstroke - Graphics are given additional colors/shading. Uses similar backgrounds to the original game, but the player sprites are redrawn and are wearing swimming caps.

"Panda" set (VT03)[]

A common set of VT03 conversions that changes the players (as well as the audience) to pandas. The tracks are pink and surrounded by grass; the scoreboard is made out of wooden logs, and has two rabbits surrounding it. The swimming events feature added sound effects. The following events are featured in this set:

  • High Jump
  • Long Jump
  • Triple Jump
  • Shot Put
  • Discus Put
  • Javelin Throw
  • Shooting
  • Target Practice
  • 100 Meter Dash
  • 110 Meter Hurdles
  • 100 Meter Freestyle
  • 100 Meter Backstroke
  • 100 Meter Butterfly
  • 100 Meter Breast

Others[]

Some split-game versions do not appear to be tied to any sort of "set". These include the following:

Shooting (alternate revision)[]

Features different sprites compared to other versions, and appears to take place in a desert.

100 Meter Freestyle (Qi Sheng Long)[]

Based on the "common" 8-bit set version, using female player sprites, but adds a music track (using the song from Bug's War).
