Nice Code Software

Nice Code Software, called 西安东信软件公司 (Xi'an Dongxin Software Co.) in Chinese and formerly known as Nature Color Game, is a game developer based in Xi'an, China, which has developed games for Waixing, Nanjing, Jungletac, Qi Sheng Long & Trump Grand.

The company was founded by an artist and a number of its early staff were from Dragon Co.; they took some resources from Dragon when they moved to Nice Code, leading to a number of platform games being produced at Nice Code using Dragon's engines. Most other Nice Code games are simple one-screen action games designed for plug & play consoles, but the company is also known to have made some of Nanjing's RPGs, including Alien vs Predator & Tomb Raider.

Famicom

These games are usually found built into Famiclones, and many have been produced in both VT02 (standard Famiclone) and VT03 (enhanced colour) versions.

Nature Clan series

The Nature Clan games form a small series featuring the titular character Nature Clan, similar to later Hummer Team releases. Nature Clan also makes cameos in other Nice Code titles, like Magic Jony. Most of the VT03 versions of the games remove all references to the series.

Escapeway - You control three Nature Clans, and you need to switch their places when appropriate and jump at the right time to pass through obstacles placed in the level. Also known as Rushing Brothers (VT02) (Qi Sheng Long).
Forest Adventure - A platforming game where you must reach the end goal. Also known as Jumping Weald (VT03) (Nice Code) and Caper Alone (VT02) (Qi Sheng Long)
Island - You must kick normal eggs into evil eggs so they fall off the island. Also known as Kicking Now (VT02) (Qi Sheng Long).
Mirror Devil World - Clone of Kickle Cubicle for NES. Also known as Cursed Pond (VT02) (Qi Sheng Long).
Pindable Crystal Ball - A game where Nature Clan has to go around a level picking up items while avoiding obstacles. Also known as Adventurer (VT02) (Qi Sheng Long) and Worm Dream (VT03) (Nice Code).
Sky Dreamer - A platformer where the goal is to get to the end of the stage. Additionally the player must find fairies to collect apples, which can then be taken to statues that either grant health or give the player a shooting power up. Runs on a similar engine to Dragon Co's games and uses a rendition of the Pitfall II theme. Also known as Sky Dreamer (VT03) (Nice Code) and Sky Zone (VT02) (Qi Sheng Long).
Spring World - The player navigates a maze picking up items while avoiding obstacles. Also known as Cool Baby (VT02) (Qi Sheng Long), Swing (VT03) (Nice Code) and Spring World (VT03) (Nice Code).

Intellivision and Atari Ports

Nice Code is believed to have programmed officially licensed ports of Atari 2600, Atari 7800, and Intellivision games to the Famicom for use in plug 'n play systems. Many of these ports were later modified to remove copyrighted material; Nearly all of the Intellivision ones were hacked, but only more obscure Atari ones received later alterations.

Baseball - A vt02 version by waixing is a port of Major League Baseball for the Intellivision. Qi sheng long also have a vt03 version. In Waixing's vt02 version you play a game of baseball and just like baseball you shoot the ball with your bat and move from cone to cone. In qi sheng long's vt03 version you play a game of baseball and you shoot the ball. Then another team member goes from cone to cone collecting the ball and passing to other team members. All baseball games for the vii are based on qi sheng long's version.
Beach Ball - A game where you play as a bubble that needs to grow bigger by collecting water in the level while avoid obstacles. Also called UFO (VT03) (Nice Code) and Star (VT02) (Nice Code).

Hit Mouse - Also known as Plush dog (waixing) or Toad in the hole (power joy). A 2 in 1 cartirage/single cartirage has 4 holes while qi sheng long's/power joy's version has 9 holes. The single cartirage release is a hack of knocking instead. The single cartirage release and the 2 in 1 cartirage release have music on title screen and ingame. While qi sheng long's version has music only on title screen while power joy's version removes the title screen and music.

Knocking - A whack a mole clone. In this game you hit a girl and another person who changes depending on which version you are playing (qi sheng long or nice code). Moto rushing - A hack of pobble that removes the timer bar and replaces it with a timer. It retains the score. It changes the graphics and you no longer die immediately you crash into something in the game. In addition to obstacles you also have enemy cars to dodge before reaching the finish line.
Mouse Hero - Loosely based off Kaboom for the Atari 2600.
Mouse Snare - Appears to be a clone of Minesweeper. Also called mine {vt02} (qi sheng long).
Move Box
Mowing - A game where you play as a lawn mower mowing a lawn in the back garden. Uses graphics from wacky races. Also called lawn mower {vt03} (qi sheng long) or agile mice {vt03} (nice code).
Music Moment - A game where you are a creature collecting falling music notes. Collect the music notes in order to hear a song or dont collect them in order to get random music. When you have collected enough music notes you move on to the next level.

Numerous hacks of Track & Field. There are qi sheng long originals and nice code originals. The qi sheng long originals use graphics from capcom barcelona 92 and primitive. The nice code originals are the same thing except the men have been replaced with pandas instead.

Play Dice - Appears to be based off Devil Dice for the Playstation. Uses music from tetris family 9 in 1.
Pobble - Appears to be based off zippy race. You die immediately you hit something and there are no enemy cars. Instead you have obstacles to dodge. You have to reach the finish line before time runs out.
Polar Bat - You play as a kid shooting up at enemies flying along the screen, while simultaneously avoiding snowballs. The game runs on the same engine as The Archer. Also called Ghost Palace (VT02) (Waixing) or Enchanter (VT02) (Waixing).
Police Dog Lasy - A game where you play as a dog and have to watch a burgerer robbing goods and then burrying them in the ground. Afterwards you sniff around for the goods the burgerer burried in the ground. Also known as super sleuth {vt02} (qi sheng long) or sleuth [vt02} (qi sheng long).
Police VS Thief - A game where you are in a police car and you have to catch the thief by running your car into the thief's car. You can't go backwards when driving your car. Also called monster hunter {vt03} (nice code).
PongPong - A game where you push enemies into holes. Also called Autoboat Contest (VT03) (Waixing), Ramming (VT03) (Qi Sheng Long), and Bump (VT02) (Nice Code).
Power - Appears to be based off RC Pro-Am for the NES.
Power Robot - A game where you are a robot operated by a spring that needs to jump on platforms so the robot can collect items. When the robot has collected enough items the game moves on to the next level. Also called kangaroo {vt02} (qi sheng long) or spring jester {vt03} (nice code).
Pulveration - Also called Bugs {vt02} (qi sheng long) or Pulver {vt02} (nice code). Also called monster war {vt02} (waixing) or pulveration {vt03} (nice code).

Racing rivalry - A game where you drive a car against another opponent's car and you try to drive faster than them. It is vt03 only.

Roulette - Has music ripped from Captain Tsubasa.

Seaport guarl - This is a game where you play as a tank that has to shoot at a ship that is also constantly shooting at the tank. Also called fateful battle {vt03} (nice code).

Shark - A game where you play as a fish and have to swim around the level touching fish that are the same size as you. But not fish bigger than you. Also called exist {vt03} (qi sheng long).
Sky wing - A shooting game where you control a aeroplane shooting enemies in the level and collecting items along the way. It is vt03 only.

Speed challenge - A game where you drive a car around a track and try to make sure you don't slip off the track. It is vt03 only.
Speed crisis - A game where you drive a car and have to make sure you go over ramps placed in the level so that you soar over pits. It is vt03 only.
Speed Man - Known as Corridor on some Famiclones, and the background music is an 8-bit rendition of the Slayers Next theme.

Submarine - A game where you are a tank shooting down at other tanks while avoiding the other enemies missiles. Also called target submarine {vt03} (nice code).

Symbol puzzle - A clone of mahjong. It is vt03 only.
Tadpole - A game where you try to guide tadpoles along a river by using the 2 sets of direction keys and switching between them when approriate. Also called homing chicken {vt03} (nice code).

Thunder man - A Batman clone. You play as a man going through the level beating enemies up, collecting powerups and jumping on platforms to complete the level. It is vt03 only.

Toy Factory - This is a game where you play as a rabbit that works in a factory and needs you to line up coloured pots correctly so that the colour falls in the same coloured pot. Qi sheng long have a version of this game as well.
Track racing - A game where you drive a car around a track and have to avoid crashing into enemy cars or obstacles. You also collect items along the way. It is vt03 only.

Twin Fish - A game where you play with 9 cards placed in front of you. You then try to find the equivent of the fish that is shown below the cards. Also called mask {vt03} (nice code).
Vanguard - A clone of jackal by konami. You play in a tank driving over a military camp site shooting other enemy tanks. It is vt03 only.
Vigilant - A clone of G-Force FGT from action 52 {active enterprises}. Also called assault force {vt03} (nice code).
volleyball - A game where you and other team members try to score a goal. Also called beach volleyball {vt03} (nice code).

Water pipes - Clone of Pipe Mania. Also called road mould {vt03} (nice code).
Wildworm - A game where you play as a worm that goes around the level eating food. When the worm has become full the food will disappear.

Trivia

While most of Nice Code's games use their own sound engine, a few of them rip off sound engines from other companies and some songs are 8-bit renditions of various other songs, either from a nursery rhyme, video game or anime.
Many of their games are copyrighted in China by Qi Sheng Long.
Nice Code games published by Waixing usually have different titles and graphics to the versions released by Trump Grand, Qi Sheng Long and other companies. This may have been so Waixing could register the copyright separately from Qi Sheng Long.
While it is unconfirmed, it seems that Nice Code is responsible for the majority of recent bootleg NES demakes - the 8-bit ports of Angry Birds, Plants vs. Zombies, Crash Bandicoot, Metal Slug Advance, and Mario Kart all use music and sounds from NC games, and the OneBus games Guard Radish (Game Over Gopher) and Cut Fruit (Fruit Ninja) appear on several DreamGEAR systems.
