Policeman is a NES/Famicom port of Bonanza Bros, a Sega arcade game. It was made by TXC Micro Genius internal development studio and manufactured by the same company in 1992. The title is relatively unknown due to its low-profile release and availability.
Overview[]
Gameplay.
Akin to Bonanza Bros., Policeman is a side scroller stealth action game. The port does flip the original script: rather than steal artifacts in venues guarded by law enforcement, the player must collect back the stolen artifacts in numerous locations occupied by enemies. Unusually, Policeman does offer a simultaneous two players mode, matching the capabilities of the arcade game.
The game has a total of 5 stages, each split into 4 different levels. Each level has two floor where scattered artifacts must be retrieved. Once all collected, the policeman may exit the level by entering the right door. The enemies walk in fixed patterns and may attack whenever the player approaches them. Some enemies may shoot projectiles, throw bombs or fight bare-handed. The controls are stiff and sometime not always intuitive as the level layout may inhibit some movements like jumping. The knock-out duration of the enemies is rather short and the main character often gets hit the moment they walk past them as they wake up.
Trivia[]
- The exit door in every level of stage 4 is invisible. They may be misplaced due to a programming oversight.
- The game is not an exclusive Gluk Video title: a Famicom MGC release is known to exist.
