The Retro Dance Mat is a plug and play dance mat system made by an unknown company and sold by various companies, such as Shenzhen Hopora Electronics Co., Ltd., and Magnum Brands Ltd., who sold theirs in late 2020.[2] It is developed by Wellminds.
Appearance[]
The plug and play uses the generic 'Stay Cool' dance mat that is pink and blue. A two player version where the mat is red and green is known.
Overview[]
The system only has one game, but there are 110 songs to choose from. The music in the menu is looped from Stevie B's Funky Melody. Naturally it also includes a some version of a Hit Mouse game as well, like most other plug and play dance mats.
Also included on the dance mat are 9 regular games. Among these games are a direct clone of Puzzle Bobble and a shooting game that steals assets from Metal Slug.
Some of the songs have up-left and up-right arrows, this copies the Solo mode from the original DDR games.
There's also a two player version that seems to be exactly the same, but now it has two dance mats. Strangely, this version seems to only have been sold under their Thumbs Up! brand while the single version was sold under their Orb brand.

Trivia[]
- A version of the "Super StepMania" dancing game on the Retro Dance Mat is also included in a "Dual Playing TV Dance Mat" from WOLSEN, known to have been released as early as 2017.[3], and another sold by Brand Collective called Single Player Dance Mat.[4] It is unlikely that this specific system is directly related to Orb or Magnum Brands Ltd.
- These versios use a different softpad, that is black, with blue, by red, and yellow arrows with a picture of dancers in the middle. Some versions of this softpad can come bundled with more games.[5]
- Magnum Brands are also known to have sold a mini arcade machine aptly named the Retro Mini Arcade Machine under the Orb and Thumbs Up! brand names.
