Sonic 6 is an unlicensed "pirate" game for the GameBoy supposedly released in 1998. It is actually a minor graphical hack of the 1993 Speedy Gonzales GameBoy cartridge by Sunsoft, replacing all sprites and references to Speedy Gonzales with Sonic. The game was likely chosen to hack due to Speedy Gonzales' similar gameplay mechanics to that of the Sonic series such as loops, side springs that make you accelerate, etc.

Unlike the original game, which starts in "Ice Zone," Sonic 6 starts with "Forest Zone". The game is credited as being made by "Sonic World". It utilizes a password system.

Gameplay

Aside from starting out in Forest Zone instead of the original starting out in Ice Zone, it's just a graphics hack and plays exactly like the original game.

Trivia

Sonic's sprites were taken from Sonic The Hedgehog 3.

Glitched Country Zone due to programming error
Miscellaneous sprites in this game such as demo frames and the ending are from Sonic 3D Blast.
Under certain (but unclear) circumstances, Country Zone will glitch up, as pictured.
The art on the original standalone cartridge was taken primarily from Sonic the Hedgehog: The Screen Saver.
The Frame 2 animation of Sonic is taken from the cover of Sonic 3D Blast.
On the ending screen, the text "THE END" is rendered in a font from PC Paint.
