Sonic 6 (Not to be confused with Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) which is an official game made by SEGA) is a pirate hack for the Game Boy released in 1998 credited to "Sonic World". It is a minor graphical hack of the 1993 Speedy Gonzales Game Boy game by Sunsoft.

Overview

This hack replaces all of the sprites and references to Speedy Gonzales with Sonic. The game was likely chosen to hack due to Speedy Gonzales similar gameplay mechanics to that of the Sonic series such as loops, side springs that make you accelerate, etc. Unlike the original game, which starts in "Ice Zone," Sonic 6 starts in "Forest Zone" (like another hack of Speedy Gonzales for SNES to Sonic The Hedgehog).

Passwords

Below is a list of zones and passwords for Sonic 6. They are different from the original game's passwords because of the different level arrangement.

  • Ice Zone - 598926
  • Mexico Zone - 416670
  • Desert Zone - 618036
  • Country Zone - 433624
  • Cheese Island Zone - 890964

Trivia

Glitchedcountryzone

Glitched Country Zone due to programming error.

  • Sonic's sprites were taken from Sonic The Hedgehog 3.
  • Miscellaneous sprites in this game such as demo frames and the ending are from Sonic 3D Blast.
  • Levels after Country Zone will glitch up in graphics for an unusual, unexplained reason. On real hardware, the graphics glitch up on a color system; on a mono system, they display just fine.
  • The art on the original standalone cartridge was taken primarily from Sonic the Hedgehog: The Screen Saver.
  • The Frame 2 animation of Sonic is taken from the cover of Sonic 3D Blast.
  • On the ending screen, the text "THE END" is rendered in a font from PCPaint.
  • Sonic's sad face in the Game Over screen is a edited version of his happy face on the menu screen of Sonic 3D Blast.
