Sun Mixing Co., Ltd., possibly also known as IBS Co., Ltd. and erroneously referred to as Genie, is a company located in Taichung, Taiwan that distributed arcade games.[1]
Not much is known about this company. They are only known to have released four arcade games total, with their earliest known game being released in 1995. Their games share many qualities with games developed by or otherwise connected to the prolific unlicensed game developer Gamtec, such as sound drivers, music, and graphics. Although not confirmed, it is possible that either Gamtec developed games for Sun Mixing, or Sun Mixing was simply their arcade division.
Released games[]
Sun Mixing's games run on modified Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) clone hardware, converted to work through a coin-operated system.
Top Shooter (1995) - Prize redemption game that clones Konami's 1994 Japanese-only arcade game Dam Dam Boy (ダムダムボーイ). Uses the SMPS Z80 sound driver and sounds effects from the Sega Genesis games Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair and Whip Rush, but music is original compositions.
Super Bubble Bobble (1996) - Bubble Bobble clone. A Mega Drive game connected to Gamtec, Super Bubble Bobble MD, is directly based on this arcade game.
Puckman Pockiman Genie 2000 (精靈家族 GENIE 2000) (2000) - Known versions credit Sun Mixing and IBS Co., Ltd. The dancing Pikachu animation would be reused in the unlicensed Famicom game Pocket Monster, which is rumored to have been made with involvement from Gamtec.
Jue Zhan Tian Huang (決戰天皇) (200?) - Uses the High Seas Havoc sound driver. Contains the same service menu as Puckman Pockimon.
