BootlegGames Wiki

The Sup Game Box is a handheld Famiclone resembling the Game Boy, it's sold by many sellers online as a "Gameboy", although it's not a Game Boy officially released by Nintendo. The "Sup" branding is derived from the logo for the Supreme clothing brand. Similar consoles are sold with or without the branding for different markets. The manufacturer is unknown, though is most likely Touch Game Player. It resembles the FC Console Famiclone family in button layout, but has a different game selection screen.

Overview[]

There are many different variants of the Sup Game Box available from different manufacturers; with varying music and language options on the language selection screen, screen size, and included games.[1][2] However, the most common type is based on a cloned Retro FC design and contains a built in "400 in 1" game set with 313 unique games and 87 duplicate games; a majority of the games are hacks or simple titles developed by prolific plug & play developer Nice Code Software. There is an Arabic version of the Sup Game Box, which has a Arabic language instead of Chinese. Also the language selection screen uses Slum theme from Mighty Final Fight. The Arabic version has the same game list, but some games that work In the original version doesn't work here. In Spain, these consoles released in 2023, and contain 500 games.

In late 2022, a variant of the Sup Game Box titled "Classic Arcade" (also known as "Arcade Fun") was released in the United States by Merkury Innovations. The game list is adjusted to remove various titles, including all Mario-related games; however, numerous highly infringing games are still present. A cut-down 200-in-1 model was released in 2023; it was seemingly released to remove further copyrighted material, yet still retains games such as Space Invaders and the Tetris clone Pikachu (also known as "Poke Tetris"). Despite their bootleg nature, the consoles have been noted as being sold in very large U.S. retailers, namely Walmart and Five Below.

Almost all versions of the console come with composite A/V cables allowing it to connect to a television, and a USB cable to charge the included battery, which is usually a Nokia-clone BL-5C battery. It takes about two hours to fully charge the battery, with 4 hours of play time according to manufacturers. The battery life can also be extended to about 6 hours if it has moderated gameplay.

Supreme2player

There is the option to buy, or sometimes comes already included in the box, a second player controller (either red or black) to connect to the Micro USB or Mini USB port used for charging. However, they simply route the Famicom controller signals over the USB pins, rather than using the actual USB protocol, so the controllers are not compatible with other devices, and nor are standard USB controllers compatible with the consoles.

Secrets[]

If you press R (Reset) + A + X (Or R + B + Y) all at once, you will enter the "Main Device Test" mode. Where you can test all of your controllers inputs (P1 & P2).

Issues[]

Due to their very cheap quality, the Sup Game Box and its variants have a number of issues, including the screen turning white for no reason. Most likely occurring due to the LCD screen leaking. This error usually occurs when the battery is almost fully drained. The audio hardware on the Sup Game Box also appears to be missing channels, such as the triangle channel.

In the case of a drained battery on the unit, the audio is still audible but will sometimes glitch. The audio may also glitch stemming from another issue if the user presses the buttons too hard. The only way to fix the console without disassembling is playing on a TV with a AV cable/or restarting the console.
