- This article is about Super Angry Birds. For other games with a similar title, see Angry Birds.
Angry Birds (also known as Super Angry Birds) is a port of the unauthorized Sega Mega Drive/Genesis version of the mobile game Angry Birds to the Famicom. The port was likely developed by Zhengyaxin_8bit (who also made the Genesis version), though this is not 100% confirmed. It does not have any relation to the more common Nice Code port of Angry Birds.
Overview[]
The game has the same plot of the original. You control an army of birds which have to kill an army of pigs, to attack a pig, you will need to use a slingshot to shoot them directly at them. Or you could kill a pig by making it fall down. Unlike the original game, the only way to kill a pig is to hit it directly, if you hit part of their fortress, none of them will be hit. There are 3 types of birds, Red, who has no ability, Chuck, can speed up, and Bomb can explode. Due to all birds exploding upon hitting something, the abilities are rather useless.
All of the sounds and music (except for the menu selection sound) are taken from the original game and are stored as PCM samples in the ROM.

Trivia[]
- A VT368 (?) conversion of the game titled Angry Birds 368 appears on certain revisions of the "Exeq Toy" Russian handheld, adding new visuals, levels, and a cutscene (similar to the "Seasons" hack of the Genesis/Mega Drive port). It is included alongside other rare VT-based games (such as Crazymouse, an enhanced version of VT02 game Eeeck! A Mouse).[1]
- There appear to be two additional hacks of the game titled Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Space; presumably based on the mobile sequels of the same names. These games are only known to appear on a "Sega King" (SK-128) handheld console (which, despite the name, is NES-based). This console has scant documentation online, though both games visually resemble Super Angry Birds in the menu preview images.[2]
- Assuming Zhengyaxin_8bit is the developer, Angry Birds Seasons is likely based on the "Seasons" hack of the Genesis/Mega Drive port, which appears on the ES-2016 16bit handheld.
- At least four multicarts were produced by Shenzhen Jncota Technology (?) featuring Super Angry Birds as the first game in the menu. The cartridges use "PVP Station"-like menu systems that are otherwise uncommon on standard multicarts.
