With Reverse Google Image Search, I found the game over screen's source. It's from http://www.pxleyes.com/photoshop-picture/4d95917fb69ee/DeadMario.html. DeadMario by Bibs, apparently part of a Photoshop contest involving Mario. Those Russians done it once again, stealing from the Internet! And as a bonus, here's the picture of tomato plants that Bibs has made into the pirahna plant creature that would eventually become the Mario 3 Around the World game over screen: http://www.pxleyes.com/images/contests/tomato/fullsize/sourceimage.jpg Fergzilla (talk) 02:23, June 28, 2015 (UTC)
Oh wow, thanks for finding the source. I do find it weird that they'd use pictures like that instead of just having a standard game over screen.
Name of the unknown Russain developers? Edit
I recently got a copy of this game for the Mega Drive, and it (possibly) says the name of those Russain pirates who make all the Genesis stuff. The version I have isn't the common version with the Mario Galaxy artwork (although it's not a reproduction either), and has Paper Mario art instead. On the back it has description copied directly from Mario Land, and has two screenshots, one of which appears to be some sort of early version of the game - Mario looks more like Paper Mario and he's in a less colorful version of the Antarctic level with less enemies. And in the lower right corner, it says "Super Mario 3 developed by Chinese video game pirates, probably Gametec.". So the game not only admits it's a bootleg, but it lies and says it was Chinese instead of Russain. It then proceeds to say "Alrghts Reserved".
But is there a bootleg company called Gametec making these bootlegs like Mario 3, Felix the Cat, etc? It seems weird that they would say "probably", but then again, it's weird to say it's both licensed and unlicensed.
Show proof. And by that I mean screenshots, scans or whatever of your copy.01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)01:40, June 24, 2017 (UTC)~
