Tetris is a port of Atari's arcade version of Tetris to the MSX series of computers developed by Saeron System. It was released in 1990 exclusively in South Korea.

Overview[]

The game is a rather accurate port of Atari's version. The game starts off with a difficulty selection similar to the original game. Unlike the NES version, the full campaign from the original arcade game is here. There are a total of 15 stages. Which are divided into 5 "levels" each with 3 stages. Each stage requires you to clear a certain amount of lines to complete it.

The first set has nothing added, the second set features garbage blocks, the third set features random added blocks, the fourth set features rising lines of garbage, and the last set is similar to the second set but harder. Each time you clear a set, a guy (possibly a puppet) appears from the left door and starts to dance.

Unlike the original game, there are only two tracks that play during gameplay, Kalinka and Troika. A strange choice knowing that Bradinsky is much more popular than both songs. Unlike the original game, there are lives (known as "Rest" in game, likely due to the term being used in older Konami games).

Trivia[]

  • Medium on the difficulty selection screen is misspelled as "Medyum". On the same screen, 20,000 and 40,000 and shortened to just 20 and 40. After completing a level, the string "YOU DID" appears instead of "YOU DID IT!" like in the original arcade game.
  • The dancing puppet seen in-game looks more like an Indian man than a Russian dancer as in the original game.
  • The only other known game that Saeron has made is Hong Kil Dong, which was published by Clover
