Titanic (also known as Titanic 2005) is an unlicensed Famicom game published by Shenzhen Nanjing Technology in 2005. While the developers are not explicitly credited, the game's development is strongly connected to Dragon Co. as its music and gameplay strongly resemble that of the aforementioned company's platforming games. The game can also be found on some Famiclone-based plug & play systems under the name Sunken Ship, which is typically included in game libraries containing 8-bit games developed by Nice Code Software.
Overview[]
In Titanic, you can choose to play as Jack or Rose, and your objective is to escape the ship, starting at the bottom in the boiler room and working your way to the top through the cellar stairs, hallways (there are three of these levels, presumably meant to be 3rd, 2nd and 1st class) the hold or luggage room and finally the deck before jumping ship and swimming to Jack through the North Atlantic. The game uses the same (or similar) gameplay engine as Dragon Co.'s other platformers, although the game does control somewhat differently. You can climb up ledges by pressing up like in Prince of Persia and the B button now just makes you run faster instead of using a weapon.
Most of the levels are standard, although there a couple of levels that play somewhat differently. One stage requires you to avoid the rising water level by ascending up the floors of the ship, while the final level has you swimming up to the surface.
Oddly, the ending is completely inaccurate to the film as the Titanic seems to be fixed somehow and Jack lives at the end.
