Welcome!

Congratulations on starting BootlegGames Wiki! It's a brand new project, so it needs a lot of love. Here are five tips to make your wiki great.
  • It's all yours right now -- enjoy it! Once your wiki takes off, lots of people will read what you write. Right now, nobody's looking over your shoulder yet, so feel free to try things out and make mistakes.

  • Make lots of short pages! The hardest thing about writing is looking at a blank page and not knowing where to start. It's a lot easier once you write down your first couple sentences. So take a deep breath, and jump in -- make ten really short pages, one right after another. Once you've started, you can build the pages up slowly, adding a little bit at a time.

  • Link your pages together! Links help you and your readers get from one page to another, so whenever you mention the subject of another page, use the "Add a Link" button to make a link to that page. You should also use the front page to link to all of the most important pages on your wiki. Describe what your wiki is about on the main page, and include links to help your readers find their way around.

  • Add pictures! A well-chosen picture can make a bland wiki page come to life. When you're writing a page, use the "Add a Picture" button to upload a picture from your computer onto the page.

  • When you're ready -- tell your friends! Once you've started a bunch of pages, linked them together and added some pictures, you'll be ready to start showing off your wiki to the world. You probably know people who are interested in the same thing that you are, so tell your friends to check out your new site. Those are your first readers and potential contributors, so give them lots of encouragement.

If you get stuck, write to us through our contact form -- we're happy to help!

Have fun!

Affiliate with VG Wiki

KingPepe2010,
Like you, I'm also the founder of a Wikia wiki. My wiki's name is VG Wiki, a video game encyclopedia that writes about all video games and video game-related subjects. VG Wiki is wondering if you would like to become an affiliate. I will await your response, please post your reply onto my talk page on BootlegGames Wiki or on VG Wiki.
--iSodium (Talk) 22:21, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

Now since we're affiliates, all we need to do now is post a link to the other's wiki either on the homepage or a page made for affiliates. Thanks for affiliating with us!

Just did it right now. KingPepe2010 13:33, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

The Word "Rooster" on BootlegGames wiki

Is there any articles on here that has the word "rooster" in it!? Because the word "wolf" was used twice in this, and I want you to know is there a article with the word "rooster" in it. Billy Hatcher may have a bootleg on it... Does it look like rocks to you!? 18:45, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

Excuse me but could point out those articles for me? -KingPepe2010 02:48, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

MitchZero's userpage has the word "wolf" on it.

...ok so what is your problem with the word and why do you want to know if there's an article saying something about a rooster? -KingPepe2010 16:22, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

Well you just maybe want to. Nah... I tell them.

RE: Edits

Thanks for noticing! :D And don't worry, I will! I'm just glad to be helping out the community in some small way. :) Enough people post videos and I haven't got the time or paitence to be fiddling around with all that, it's just not my forte.

But writing on the other hand, ahhhh, that's my forte alright. :) I'm new to this Wiki buisness but I think I'm catching on quick. But I digress, thanks once again and I'll be back at work on some articles soon enough. ^^ Ray of Lightning (talk) 07:05, September 5, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Homebrew Games

Wouldn't homebrew games be the same as bootleg games? I don't understand the difference. Because they're unlicensed. I really don't understand how that doesn't count.

Chowdit1 (talk) 21:01, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

One of the biggest differences is that homebrew games aren't published by other companies like bootleg games can be. They usually don't infringe on copyrights in an attempt to make a profit off of them either. They're usually games that are made just for fun with programming on the console. 74.101.23.7 23:54, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

Well, I kinda understand that, but still why was the page deleted? And besides, it wasn't like the game was held for personal gain, they were going to release to the audiance in a convention. [unsigned, posted by Chowdit1]

yeah the difference is homebrew games are made by hobbyists for fun, unlicensed/bootleg/whatever games are made by companies for profit, this definitely falls into the former category IMO.
the lines can blur a little bit when homebrew game makers start selling their games on cartridge but i think someone selling 20 copies at a convention is definitely still a hobbyist.
i have nothing against homebrew games at all but they just aren't what this wiki is for. Taizou (talk) 00:42, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
Then what wiki on Wikia is for them? And if 20 copies are too few, are 150 copies offered for sale online also too few? What volume qualifies something as "unlicensed" rather than "homebrew"? Please see request for clarification that I posted at Help talk:Contents/Articles. --Tepples (talk) 05:09, December 25, 2014 (UTC)

Can I put up a page of the Bootleg Flash Cart, "GB USB smart card"?

Would you let me do so? Yes, it is a bootleg cartridge, I not completely aware if so, because it is unable to disassemble, but I can notice alot details showing it is. So the only thing I can't find out is the chips.

Chowdit1 (talk) 09:51, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

It is not a bootleg, it's a homebrew cart that allows you to store roms and play them off of there. It might sound like a multicart but they're not meant to be used to store roms and then sell them to other people. KingPepe2010 (talk) 20:01, June 21, 2013 (UTC)

Hello people wut's up?

Yo! Your welcome for the edit. Did you notice my other articles?

HEY!

I have found Entex Select-A-Game, which made Pac-Man 2 with no confusion of Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. Will I feature it on this site?

Edits to Mario 4: A Space Odyssey.

Hey, about your edits to Mario 4,I like how you fixed it up, but I added the game over screen picture yesterday. Can you at least add the links to the videos you deleted to the article? I don't know if the game over screen can be added again.

Technically, the pic is still on the site since I haven't deleted it. (Here it is: GENESIS--Super_Mario_4_Space_Odyssey_Mar11_22_59_57.png ) I would recommend putting both the continue screen and the game over screen into one pic; there's no need for them to be 2 separate pics and it just makes the article look more cluttered. That's also why I got rid of the videos for the music; there's no real need for them since you obviously state what they're based off of, anyone can look it up themselves. I would only suggest using images and videos only if a visual representation is required (like showing the continue and death screens when you explain about how they're based off of T-shirt designs). KingPepe2010 (talk) 04:10, October 17, 2014 (UTC)
Well, I did it already, I combined "Continue" and "Game Over" screens into one image and replaced the "Continue" screen with the image of two screenshots combined. Averon25 is here! 08:21, October 17, 2014 (UTC)

Poke Tetris

Hey dude. An anonymous wikia user has created a new page titled Poke Tetris. I know of this game and I am very sure it's a hack of the unlicenced Tengen Tetris. But this person has created a tiny page consisting of just one sentence with no pictures, videos or info boxes. The sentence says that the game is, and I now quote from the article, "not a bootleg but it is a ripoff of Tetris made by the same people who made Tetris." I am very sure this is infact a bootleg, and the sentence doesn't really make much sense. Thanks Finizer (talk) 12:30, December 16, 2014 (UTC)

Made this another section so it's much more organized. That page really needs to be fixed up. I'm not sure about Poke Tetris being an unlicensed hack of Tengen's Tetris though; it has a similar layout but the pieces and controls were different from what I remember of it. KingPepe2010 (talk) 02:16, December 17, 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, the page needs some work. Plus, CaH4e3 said that it's a hack of Tengen Tetris on the page where the ROM download is: http://cah4e3.shedevr.org.ru/dumping_2007.php, but I'm not too sure myself. Finizer (talk) 16:42, December 17, 2014 (UTC)

actually I said it was just a clone (copy) of tengen's tetris, interface looks similar, but game doesn't. it is a original clone, just like any other simple game from dreamgear-like consoles or onebus cartridges *cah4e3

shenzen jncota

What game is KT-1062?

To my knowledge, it's undiscovered. The list on the article came from temryu's list of Jncota games and there was no listing for KT-1062. Either no one has found it or there was no KT-1062 (which might be unlikely). KingPepe2010 (talk) 02:48, January 6, 2015 (UTC)

Infobox Question

Slap me if I didn't read something, but how do I add one of those frames that go around a title screen image? It includes dates, developers, etc. Retrogamer406 (talk) 00:32, February 19, 2015 (UTC)retrogamer406

Sorry for being late to answer, you can read about it here. KingPepe2010 (talk) 02:42, February 26, 2015 (UTC)

Bug89

what is this thing i has poor gramar srsly what ima talking wrong

the tom & jerry info is true like the first level look like the 4 level of tom & jerry frantic atics and the 4 level in tom & jerry 3 looks like the 1 level of tom & jerry frantic atics like the spike sprite is the same of tom & jerry frantic atics and the level bg and all looks like the 1 level of tom & jerry frantic atics

...you can make sections in the Super Contra 5 article but you can't make one on my talk page. Huh.
Also, sign your name when you use talk pages. (Put ~~~~ without quotes at the end of your message.) Let's take a look at your message as an example. First off, you don't capitalize the beginning of sentences or proper nouns. Second off, you don't use pronunciation. Third, you're misspelling "antics" and you shorthanded "seriously" to "srsly".
Also, just because they have similar elements does not make it a port so technically, you are wrong. KingPepe2010 (talk) 01:00, May 26, 2015 (UTC)

Gramar i use srsly and ima to resume

...well, you're getting closer. You need to capitalize the "i" when you're referring to yourself. Also you still lack in pronunciation. Also, write "srsly" and "ima" correctly ("seriously" and "I'm"). KingPepe2010 (talk) 14:56, May 26, 2015 (UTC)

Policy about download links

Hello! I wanted to check in and see if this community has a policy about posting download links for bootleg or unlicensed games. Generally such links would be a violation of the Wikia Terms of Use, which is why I am asking. I only noticed one possible link like that, on Super Mario 4, but that link is broken. But I also didn't see a policy about it on your Help:Contents page (which is very nicely organized, by the way). Please let me know if you do have a policy about this. If you know of any such links that exist, please remove them ASAP. Thanks! -BertH (help forum | blog) 00:18, December 19, 2015 (UTC)

Although we have removed download links for those in the past, we didn't have a clear download policy. We assumed people would've thought downloading and distributing them was not allowed to begin with. I'll probably update the rules regarding downloads when I get the chance and we'll continue to keep a lookout for those posting links. KingPepe2010 (talk) 15:19, December 21, 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. I am glad to hear that links have been removed in the past. Yes, it's probably best to make it a clear policy. Keep up the good work! -BertH (help forum | blog) 18:23, December 21, 2015 (UTC)

Crash Bandicoot 3

Hello, I've noticed that a user has recently created a page called Crash Bandicoot 3 (June 8 2016 where I live). Judging by the images uploaded onto the article, I believe that this is false info and I've been wondering what action should be taken. Krazy Rabbit (hoppin'|contribs) 01:57, June 9, 2016 (UTC)

It has already been taken care of by another admin. Thank you for mentioning it though! KingPepe2010 (talk) 17:31, June 9, 2016 (UTC)

Sonic Adventure 8

Hey, Pepe!

Is it alright if I recreate some of the pictures of Sonic Adventure 8 to look more like screenshots taken off an emulator?

I'm a nerd pretty skilled at pixel art, and I think it's possible for me to recreate a few of the clearer images pixel-by-pixel for more clarity. The only real problem I'd have is matching the palette, but I think it shares a palette with Sonic Adventure 7's gloriously bad title screen.

The game is undumped, which is why I'm not really sure if I should do this.

Thanks! TheOnlyMemeMachine (talk) 06:22, June 18, 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for the late response, I've been kinda busy the past few days. As much as clearer screenshots would be appreciated, it would probably be for the best to wait for a dump and get screenshots from there instead of recreating them.
However, I've noticed all the edits you've been doing lately and I appreciate them! Keep up the good work! KingPepe2010 (talk) 17:14, June 22, 2016 (UTC)
No prob, man! I try my best to make sure all the articles are written at least somewhat like legit Wikipedia articles.
I doubt a dump for SA8 will come out anytime soon...and if it does, it'll possibly end up like Rockman 8, which would only give me a wall of garbage sprites on Bgb after 5 minutes of tinkering.
Probably never gonna be used anywhere on the wiki, but I recreated the title and copyright, at least.
I originally used a palette made using screenshots of Pokemon Crystal that made it look pretty decent, but with SA7's vastly superior palette of Regret Red, Bleeding-Eye Blue, and Garbage Green, it looks more like what it actually is...

....bad.

Hot Dance 2000

Can I create this page about unlicensed NES DDR pirate clone? {{SUBST:User:AmazingTLM/Sig1|06:21,2/13/2017}} 06:21, February 13, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, it's completely fine! Just be sure to follow the article layouts and all! (also sorry if I did not answer you before, I thought I did respond...) KingPepe2010 (talk) 00:59, February 18, 2017 (UTC)

Can you protected the pages against a fandom users?

It would be disaster and get really messed up. Can you protected as a log in for the edited?

- User:Carloscreate100

To my knowledge (and I could be wrong here), there's no easy way I can make it so that user pages can't be edited by other people. I can throw up protection for people's user pages but not only is either option not perfect (It's either only admins and bureaucrats can only edit it (but it would lock out the user from editing their own page) or only new/unregistered users can't edit it which still lets older members screw with it) but I have to do it individually; I can't apply protection to every single user unless I do each user account. If someone wishes for their own user page to be protected from other people editing it, I can do that at least but I can't enforce it for everyone. KingPepe2010 (talk) 03:30, April 21, 2017 (UTC)

Disable comments

Can you tell me how you disable comments in every pages? - Carloscreate100

I don't think there is a way without contacting Wikia's staff. Has there been any particularly bad comments? KingPepe2010 (talk) 17:17, May 8, 2017 (UTC)

RE

This isnt a fake article

GameFix is actual Game developers

Your accusations are based on predjudice and selfishness

Have a good day

For a company with a supposedly famous game, they sure don't show up when I search for them or any of their games. Your article was based on your own imagination and ignorance of the rules. Have a nice day.KingPepe2010 (talk) 03:39, June 3, 2017 (UTC)
Maybe because we only published in The Netherlands

New templates notices

Hope you can add images.

- Carloscreate100 (talk) 03:39, June 30, 2017 (UTC)

The cleanup template is redundan since we have the Makon template for that. I'm not a huge fan of having blatanly unfinished articles on the wiki and expecting someone to finish the article off so I'm not keen on having a construction template. Incomplete template I feel is a bit redundant because Stub exists. Image template I might consider however. KingPepe2010 (talk) 13:56, July 4, 2017 (UTC)

Admin me

Can you admin me? I feel kinda cleaned for the images and videos. Carloscreate100 (talk) 05:42, August 15, 2017 (UTC)

As much as I appreciate the work you've been doing on the wiki, I'd rather not give out the admin position so easily. I usually try to give admin positions to people I know more about, can actually trust and have actual close contact with. (Not just Wikia but like Skype/Discord/Steam) What I can do is if you have a Skype, Steam or Discord contact, you could tell me what needs to be cleaned and I'll work on it. (Instead of just repoting it on my talk page everytime since I'm not always checking BGW) If you don't wish to post that stuff in public, you can PM me on Pirated Games Central Forums, join the Discord server and PM there or put your e-mail here (if you don't mind that being public). KingPepe2010 (talk) 18:36, August 16, 2017 (UTC)

Make me as bureaucrat!

I'm most active as November, 12 and November, 13! I enjoy that wiki. Make me as bureaucrate, please (as polite request) - Grischasv (talk) 18:59, December 16, 2017 (UTC)

As much as I appreciate the edits you've done and I'm glad you enjoy the wiki, I'd rather not make someone into a bureaucrat who has only been around for only a whole month. KingPepe2010 (talk) 17:02, December 19, 2017 (UTC)
