The Zone 3D is a plug-and-play console that was manufactured and released around 2011 by Ultimate Products Ltd. that retailed for $59.99. It is a 32-bit system released in the Zone line of plug-and-play consoles. It comes bundled with two controllers that mimic the Nintendo Wii's Wiimote controllers, although the console unit itself vaguely resembles a PlayStation 3. The Zone 3D's main gimmick is that it comes with games that make use of anaglyph 3D graphics, most of which are sports games that make use of motion controls in the controllers. The packaging includes 2 red and blue 3D glasses to allow these games to be viewed properly. The games on the Zone 3D were likely developed by JungleTac, as a selection of 3D games as well as most of the 2D games on the console are directly ported from or heavily based on games that are known to be developed by them for 16-bit Sunplus SPG systems. The Zone 3D uses the Sunplus SPG293 chipset, and it is the only known instance of JungleTac working with the platform or any 32-bit hardware.
Games[]
The Zone 3D comes with 20 anaglyph 3D games and 80 2D "arcade" games. The anaglyph 3D games all use pre-rendered 3D graphics. Most of them are sports games, although a few are conversions of (or "sequels" to) games that appeared on 16-bit systems using Sunplus SPG hardware that were developed and manufactured by JungleTac. Most of the arcade games are direct ports of JungleTac's 16-bit games, some with updated graphics. A select few of the arcade games appear to be exclusive to this system.
